Illuminate returns to Reading this winter for its second year, bringing a magical winter light trail back to the stunning surroundings of Forbury Gardens and the historic Abbey Ruins.
Experience Reading’s newest seasonal light trail as you follow a 30–50 minute route filled with beautiful illuminated installations, glowing displays, and atmospheric lighting designed to transform the gardens and ruins after dark. As you explore the trail, each area has been carefully created to highlight the park’s historic landscape, unique architecture, and beautiful surroundings.
Tickets are limited for each session, so we recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date and time. More information on this years dates and tickets will be announced soon.

Food at Illuminate
This year's trail will feature a range of hot food, sweet offerings & tasty drinks. Marshmallow toasting will be available along with other sweet treats. Mulled Wine, Hot Chocolate & other refreshments will be available at the bar.
The Trail
Explore stunning light installations around the 30-50 minute trail of Forbury Gardens & Abbey Ruins. Perfect for families & those with little legs, the trail has a fantastic array of light activations for all to enjoy.
Marshmallow Toasting
We'll be bringing premium marshmallow toasting pits to Reading this winter! Indulge in delicious mega marshmallows around a warm fire. Enjoy a mulled wine or cider while toasting.
